meet . . . . PETER ZALOCHA
. . . . . . .Buffalo
Suzuki String's Classical Guitar Instructor
You will find Peter in the bright yellow Bach Studio on Wednesday
and Thursday afternoons where he gives private lessons for our Suzuki
Classical Guitar Program.
This is Mr. Peter's first year as a full time Suzuki Instructor,
although he's been associated with the BSS since 2005. Peter attended
the Thames Valley University, London, UK, and received his Bachelor's
in Music Performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder
in 2003. He is expecting to complete his Masters in Music from SUNY
Buffalo this coming May. Peter received his Suzuki Teacher Training
under Mary Cay Neal and has studied the guitar with Joanne Castellani
as well as Charles Wolzien and Frank Longay.
Mr. Peter is a "South Buffalo Boy" and is a proud graduate
of Canisius High School. He began his musical training at the
age of six when he started taking his first instrument: the piano!
Two years later he began to study the guitar with Bill Abrahms.
Peter was first attracted to Dr. Suzuki's philosophy and the Suzuki
Method in 2004; he especially enjoys teaching at the BSS Musical
Arts Center for its "communal environment which strengthens
and encourages education in music and in life." When not at the BSS Musical Arts Center, Mr. Peter is a part
of the guitar group "Trio Spectra". Peter says his musical
tastes are really eclectic. He tells us his three favorite pieces
are Sonata by Leo Brouwer, Golden Slumbers by
the Beatles, and The Rite of Spring by Igor Stravinsky.
Mr. Peter's Favorite Suzuki quote: "Only
practice on the days that you eat."
